Most manga receive anime adaptations even when the story is still ongoing, which creates a lot of uncertainty. Since each anime episode is around 30 minutes long and can cover many of the sources at once, the creators have to create filler or come up with their own endings because the source is yet to conclude the story. The manga is often very slow while the anime adaptations require a much quicker conclusion. The uncertainty that is created because of it demands creative endings that work on some occasions but often time as in the case of Hellsing, turns out to be depressing and lackluster.
Some series like Fruits Basket, Hellsing, and Fullmetal Alchemist have received full series reboots, and it appears that Shaman King will follow the same trend. However, the recent development raises a crucial question that will be very important for the new series. Will the reboot be able to live up to fans’ expectations? How will the new anime compare to the original series? Will we see some changes in the plot?
Fullmetal Alchemist created its own bittersweet ending in which Alphonse got his body back but he had no memories beyond the day the two brothers tried to revive their mother. Ed on the other hand was sent to an alternate version of reality. Some fans liked the changes, but most were disappointed. However, when Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was released it finally fixed the ending by merely following the original manga. The show was able to win over fans since it made up for all its previous mistakes. The series went on to become one of the most iconic shows of all time and has remained in the hearts of its fans even after decades of its release.
If the series’s trailer is a sign of things to come, then we can expect Shaman King to follow the footsteps of Brotherhood. Not only is the animation better, but it seems that the plot now follows the manga more closely. It has been a long wait for Shaman King fans but the wait will be worth it if the series is able to do as well as Brotherhood. The upcoming series will be a treat for the fans but it will also serve as a great entry point for new anime fans. It is expected to revive a fandom that has been dormant for a long time. The fans will finally get to see their favorite characters again with better animation.
The much-anticipated release will ultimately reveal whether Shaman King will be able to do as well as Brotherhood or not. Molly kishikawa. 2020. Shaman King’s Reboot Is the Anime’s Own Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. 26th December. Shaman King’s Reboot Is the Anime’s Own Fullmetal
