Paramount Has No Intention of Postponing Tom Cruise Starrer “Top Gun: Maverick”

The Hollywood big house “Paramount” has revealed that under no circumstances it would postpone the Tom Cruise starrer sequel to the 1986 film “Top Gun.”

Some streaming giant companies Netflix and Apple may have made inquiries behind the door, but Paramount has been adamant in their pursuit of the sequel to the 1986 film, which starred Tom Cruise in the leading role. However, it must be stated that several Hollywood big houses, including Paramount, did sell some of their titles to OTT platforms in order to make amends to the losses that have been incurred due to the unprecedented situation of the lockdown.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne starrer “Trial of the Chicago 7” was given to Netflix, and Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan’s thriller film “Without Remorse” was also auctioned to Amazon. However, amidst all of that, it cannot be said for certain whether Paramount has the same plans for the Tom Cruise starrer “Top Gun: Maverick,” which is budgeted around 150 million. Paramount is adamant with the film despite a controversial decision by his competitor Warner Bros. to release all of his films in theaters and on HBO Max, which would even see films like “Dune” getting an early release on HBO Max.

Paramount has no plans to go that route akin to what Marvel Studios are doing with its Black Widow’s original release plan. They will not budge regardless of how uncertain the future of the theaters might look.

Though the film is a sequel to the 1986 directorial venture of Tony Scott, the footage which has been released on the internet alludes to the fact that the film will be galaxies away in terms of the grandeur and scope.

The release dates, which have been issued to certain movies, are not fixed dates as the ongoing calendar year for theaters is going to see a lot of alterations. However, the President of Distribution for Paramount Studios named Chris Aronson has revealed that if things do remain the same, then Tom Cruise starrer tentpole will arrive in theaters not later than July 2nd, 2021.

He was quoted as saying by the “We Got This Covered” website that the company has no intentions of postponing the much-anticipated release date of the Top Gun sequel. However, he also added that the future of theaters largely depends on the fact how the country takes the vaccine and how the vaccine gets distributed in the USA.

If the theater industry recovers soon, then Aronson reckons that the studio will be in a good position to release the film on the anticipated release date of July 2nd.

Another Tom Cruise starrer, “Mission Impossible 7,” is also scheduled to be released this year. The film has a release date of November 19th, 2021. The film is going to star Hayley Atwell alongside him in the company of some stellar supporting cast, which includes Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ving Rhames.
