1) Perform SFC Performing SFC command is a great tool to scan your entire operating system and find obsolete files and corrupted files.


Follow the steps to perform SFC:


1.Tap Windows + X hotkey to launch the start menu and then tap on “Command Prompt” as admin.

2.Right-tap on the desktop application and select the “Run as Administrator” button under the context menu.

3.If the UAC prompt popup on your screen then click “Yes” to confirm access.

4.In the command prompt enter “sfc /scannow” and then tap the “Enter” key on your keyboard.

5.Here you need to wait until the scan procedure finishes.


2) Using Group Policy Editor


You can use “Group Policy Editor” to enable the registry editor again. Here are the steps to follow:


1.Tap Windows + R hotkey to open the Run dialogue.

2.In the search field, enter “gpedit.msc” and then tap on the “Ok” button to launch Group Policy Editor.

3.On the next Window, you need to navigate on the given command:

4.User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System

5.Now tap on “Prevent access” under the “registry editor” tools to launch this feature. 6.It is set as “Enable” and you need to change it to “Disabled.”


After the above procedure, reboot your operating system to check the issue resolved.


3) Manually Turn on Regedit


Here are the steps on how to manually turn on Regedit:


1.Right-tap on the Start button that appears on the bottom left corner on your screen. (You can also Tap Window + R hotkey to open “Run”)

2.Under the application list, click on the “Run” option.

3.Here you need to enter the given command on the popup dialogue that appears on your screen and then tap “Enter” key on your keyboard:

4.REG add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem /v DisableRegistry Tools/t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f


4) Reset Your PC


If you are still facing the error ‘can’t access Registry editor” then you may have to restart your PC. Sometimes restarting your PC can fix many bugs and errors from your operating system. So here are the steps to do so:


4.Tap Win + I hotkey together to open settings.

5.On the next window, tap on “Updates and Security.”

6.Select recovery.

7.Tap on the “Get Started” option under the “Reset this PC” option.

8.Select “Keep my files.”


Now, wait until the procedure is complete, after that you can open the Registry Editor and do your tasks.
