A Complete Wi-Fi Setup Guide to Canon PIXMA MG 3650

Some of the access points (usually named routers or hubs) have an automatic connection button labeled “WPS,” which is for a Wi-Fi network connectivity protected setup and will allow your devices to connect to a network without needing to type in a password. It is the easiest method to connect a PIXMA printer. If the access point has a WPS connection button, please choose ‘WPS Connection Method’ given below for the detailed instructions on connecting using this method. If there is no WPS connection button on the access point, you can use other optional methods to connect your Canon PIXMA MG 3650 printer to a Wi-Fi network.

Canon PIXMA MG 3650: WPS Connection Method

Before starting this process, there are a few conditions that must be completed to use the WPS push button method for your Canon PIXMA MG 3650 printer:

  • Your access point must have a physical WPS push button; please refer to your device’s customer guide.

  • For more details on which security method is being used on your wireless network connection, please check the wireless connection settings on the computer. Your network must have WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) or WPA2 security protocols. If the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) security is used, or if no security is enabled, most WPS-enabled access points will not connect using the WPS connection method.

Follow these step-by-step instructions below to complete your Canon PIXMA MG 3650 Wi-Fi network setup.

Step 1: Firstly, ensure your printer is on and that the WPS connection button on the wireless router can be pressed if needed.

Step 2: Now, click on and hold the [Wi-Fi] network button (A) on your printer until the on lamp (B) flashes.

Step 3: Then, click on the [Black] button (C) and the [Wi-Fi] network button (A); ensure the Wi-Fi lamp (D) flashes quickly and that the ON lamp is lit, as shown in the illustration given below. Now, go to the access point and click on the [WPS] connection button within 2 minutes.

Step 4: After that, your printer’s blue Wi-Fi network lamp will remain while searching, and both the Power and Wi-Fi network lamps will flash when connected to your access point. When your printer has successfully connected to the wireless network, the Power and Wi-Fi network lamps will stop flashing and light up.

Step 5: Lastly, ensure that your Wi-Fi network lamp and ON lamp are lit.

Please check your access point manual menu for precise details by clicking the WPS connection button.

Canon PIXMA MG 3650: Verify Network Settings

Always make sure that your Canon PIXMA MG 3650 printer is successfully connected to a wireless network connection; you can print out your printer’s network settings:

  1. Firstly, ensure your printer is on.

  2. Then, take two sheets of A4 size or letter-size plain paper.

  3. After that, click on and hold the [Wi-Fi] network button until the Power lamp flashes once, and then you can remove it.

  4. Lastly, click on the [Wi-Fi] network button, and the network information page will be printed.

When you take the printout, make sure to check that “connection” shows “active,” and the SSID – Service Set Identifier (name of your wireless network) shows the right name of your wireless network on the Canon PIXMA MG 3650 printer.
