The Umbrella Academy and Misfits, both the superhero shows, have many similarities. Both the shows are interesting and have different stories with some similarities and differences. It means if you like one of the shows, you will enjoy the other one.
Here we will show five things Umbrella Academy and Misfits have in common.
Both Feature A Motley Crew Of Superhumans
In both of the shows, The Umbrella Academy and Misfits, the story mainly focuses on two groups of young people possessed with supernatural powers or superhuman abilities. In The Umbrella Academy, the Hargreeves children were born with superhuman abilities. On the other hand, in Misfits, a young group of people came under the influence of an electric storm and obtained supernatural powers. In this way, both of the groups possess the superhuman ability, which is a common factor in both the shows.
Robert Sheehan
Robert Sheehan played the role of Nathan in Misfits and was a reckless boy who gained the power of immortality after the electric storm. He also played the role of Klaus in The Umbrella Academy and was seen as an immature and irritating boy similar to that of Nathan in Misfits.
Strangers Bonded By Superpowers
Even though the Hargreeves siblings considered themselves family, they were not genetically related to each other because each of them was adopted by Reginald Hargreeves to enroll in his Umbrella Academy. In the same way, Misfits were forced to work together in a community service program where they obtained supernatural powers because of an electric storm.
Dysfunctional Relationships
If we talk about the relationships between the characters in both the shows, The Umbrella Academy and Misfits, they are not only dramatic but dysfunctional also. Most of the characters dislike each other. In the case of Hargreeves children, they avoided each other for several years. Some of the characters have always been involved in an argument with each other. For example, Five And Diego in The Umbrella Academy, and Nathan with anyone else in Misfits. In both of the shows, they use each other for their satisfaction.
Time Travel
The time-travel part in both of the shows played a crucial role in their narrative arcs. In The Umbrella Academy, Number Five’s association shows his interactions with his adopted siblings and group as they moved in and out of different periods. If we talk about Misfits, time-travel occurred whenever Curtis used his superpower to kill Adolf Hitler. It was for a short period as compared to The Umbrella Academy, where it was for several years.
These are the five things that are common in the shows, The Umbrella Academy and Misfits. Some of the people may have already noticed these things and for those who have not noticed these things so far can now be able to understand these five things which are common in both of the shows.
